Rachel Stern
Chief Operating Officer
Rachel joined Baron Capital in 2024 as chief operating officer. She served as executive vice president, chief legal officer, and global head of strategic resources at FactSet Research Systems, Inc. until March 2024. She served as an independent director of Baron Capital Management beginning in 2018. Rachel joined FactSet in 2001 as general counsel. During various periods, her responsibilities at FactSet spanned a broad set of global functions, including Legal and Compliance, Real Estate Strategy and Facilities Management, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Third Party Data Acquisition and Management, Operations Management in India and the Philippines, Enterprise Risk Management, Government Affairs, and ESG/Sustainability. Prior to FactSet, from 1994 to 2000, she was a corporate associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP, and served as clerk to Chancellor William T. Allen from 1993 to 1994. Rachel graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a B.A. in Art History and Economics in 1987, and from the University of London with a M.A in Art History with distinction in 1989. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Vienna during the 1989-1990 academic year. She graduated from The University of Pennsylvania Law School with a J.D. in 1993.
